About the role#
The DRAM Systems & Architecture Lab researches and develops next-generation memory architectures for AI, cloud, data center, and high-performance computing. You will join this team to build software frameworks, automation tools, and AI-assisted workflows that accelerate memory architecture research. You will work with architects to evaluate emerging technologies, build simulation environments, and perform design-space exploration.
What you'll do#
- Develop and enhance software frameworks, simulation environments, and automation tools.
- Design and implement AI-assisted workflows for experiment automation, data analysis, and technical documentation.
- Analyze memory architectures such as DRAM, LPDDR, DDR6, MRDIMM, and CAMM.
- Perform studies on performance, power, bandwidth, and latency to identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with researchers to document methodologies and contribute to future memory technology strategies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience through research, internships, academic projects, or engineering work.
- Experience programming in Python, C++, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with computer architecture, memory systems, performance analysis, or simulation.
- Ability to use AI-enabled tools like Microsoft Copilot, GPT, Claude, or Gemini to improve engineering workflows.
- Experience with AI agents, RAG systems, or LLM-based tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of memory architectures such as HBM or emerging technologies.
- Experience with architectural simulators, benchmarking, or workload characterization.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Positions are on-site in San Jose, California, or Boise, Idaho.
- This role operates on a rolling basis.
