About the role#
As a Process Engineer Intern, you will support process optimization, yield improvement, and cost reduction within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. You will work alongside equipment engineering and operations teams to improve wafer output and performance. This role focuses on applying data-driven methodologies and artificial intelligence to refine manufacturing processes.
What you'll do#
- Analyze manufacturing data using SPC, FDC, and 8D methodologies combined with AI-assisted analytics to reduce defects and improve yield.
- Investigate process excursions by using LLMs and generative AI tools to identify trends, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to optimize wafer processing through data-driven decision-making.
- Implement process improvement projects to increase wafer outs using AI and visualization tools.
- Maintain and update process documentation by integrating insights from standard engineering practices and artificial intelligence.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a STEM degree with an expected graduation between May and June 2027.
- Foundational knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Experience with programming or analytics tools such as Python, MATLAB, Tableau, Java, or Microsoft Suite.
- Exposure to using AI for data analysis or engineering problem-solving.
- Experience with data collection, cleansing, database querying, and AI-supported workflows.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI, LLMs, or agentic AI solutions in academic or project settings.
- Understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
Location & details#
- Location: Boise, Idaho.
- Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week on-site for 6 to 8 months.
- Employment type: Paid internship.
