About the role#
This internship focuses on the development of efficient machine learning models for AR and VR applications. You will work across the technology stack to create high-performing models that operate within strict compute, memory, and power constraints. You will join a team that bridges the gap between algorithms and hardware, ensuring that neural networks run effectively on-device for applications like vision, speech, and user interfaces.
What you'll do#
- Define, plan, and execute deep learning research to advance AR and VR experiences.
- Develop novel techniques to achieve high accuracy for LLMs, multimodal models, and reasoning models under real-time execution constraints.
- Work with research scientists and software engineers to apply model optimization methods like quantization, compression, and pruning.
- Partner with software and hardware teams to analyze trade-offs between model accuracy, latency, and energy consumption.
- Present experimental results and recommendations to your team and cross-functional partners.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or holding a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience developing machine learning solutions and using deep learning frameworks to prototype ideas.
- Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States.
- A track record of first-author publications at top-tier AI conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, or AAAI is preferred.
- Experience training and running inference with LLMs, multimodal models, or reasoning models.
- Knowledge of model optimization techniques such as quantization, pruning, distillation, PEFT, or speculative decoding.
- Demonstrated research and software engineering experience through internships, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.

- Compensation: $7,650 to $12,667 per month.
