About the role#
Meta Reality Labs brings together researchers and engineers to invent the future of visual computing. Our teams develop technologies that enable people to capture, create, understand, and interact with immersive visual experiences across Meta products and AR/VR platforms. We work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, computer vision, computer graphics, and computational photography. Your work will focus on 3D generation across assets, characters, and worlds, alongside rigging and animation. We are currently working on neural 3D generation, including mesh, gaussian splats, topology, and texture, as well as agentic 3D generation and understanding like 3D code generation and robotic simulation.
What you'll do#
- Research, develop, and prototype advanced technologies in 3D generation, computer vision, and computer graphics using machine learning methods such as diffusion models, LLMs, and Agentic RL.
- Deliver publishable research results with direct impact on Reality Labs or Meta’s Family of Apps.
- Analyze the efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and stability of currently deployed technologies to identify opportunities for impact through novel research.
- Collaborate with team members throughout the project, from research to prototyping and product deployment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in areas such as 3D generation, computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, LLMs, or reinforcement learning.
- A track record of significant results demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or co-authored publications at top-tier conferences.
- Proficiency with modern C++ or Python.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Preferred: intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
- Preferred: experience with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
- Preferred: strong communication skills to convey research ideas to a broad audience.
- Preferred: a broad understanding of the machine vision pipeline from sensors to high-level algorithms.
- Preferred: mathematical background in linear algebra, numerical optimization, and probabilistic estimation, plus an understanding of 3D geometry.
- Preferred: relevant research or software engineering experience, such as internships, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
Location & details#
- Location: Burlingame, California.
- Type: Full-time, paid internship.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
