About the role#
Meta is seeking PhD interns to join the Fundamental AI Research team within the Meta Superintelligence Labs. You will focus on advancing the science of intelligence by working on video generation, large-scale model post-training, and self-improving agentic systems. This role allows you to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, utilize research facilities, and apply algorithmic advances at scale.
What you'll do#
- Conduct fundamental and applied research in video generation, including generative models, video synthesis, and multimodal learning.
- Develop and optimize post-training paradigms for large-scale models, such as reinforcement learning from human and AI feedback and reward modeling.
- Research self-improving and agentic generation systems, including multi-agent LLM/VLM pipelines and LLM/VLM-as-a-judge.
- Collaborate with teams across Meta to build perceptual foundations for real-time embodied agents and conversational AI.
- Contribute to the development of frontier models like Llama and LMMs.
- Brainstorm with mentors, review existing literature, and solve challenging research problems.
- Develop novel solutions, build prototypes, and run experiments to test ideas against benchmarks.
- Draft research reports, write publications, and present your findings to internal or external audiences.
- Contribute research that can be applied to product development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Research or work experience in video generation, computer vision, or multimodal AI.
- Experience with large-scale model training, post-training optimization, or data curation.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar languages and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Demonstrated research and software engineering experience through internships, industry work, coding competitions, or open source contributions.
- Experience with video-language models, LLM/VLM agents, or generative model evaluation.
- A track record of results, such as publications at conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, or ICCV.
- Experience analyzing complex, large-scale data and working in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
- Intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- Locations include Menlo Park, California, and Seattle, Washington.
- The program runs on a rolling basis with various start dates.
