About the role#
This internship focuses on fundamental research for 3D-grounded generalist models in robotics. You will work within the Surreal Vision group to build models that enable accurate, efficient, and zero-shot robotic manipulation in daily environments. The role involves innovating model architectures, refining training recipes, and delivering functional robotics policies.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute research to advance generalist robotics policies and data pipelines for large-scale 3D foundation models.
- Collaborate with robotics teams to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts for policy training and evaluation.
- Design and run experiments to validate robotics policies in both simulation and on physical hardware.
- Create data and training recipes to improve the spatial understanding of large-scale foundation models.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program related to computer vision, robotics, machine learning, or computer graphics.
- Hands-on experience with robotics policy training and large-scale 3D data pipeline curation.
- Proficiency in implementing large foundation models and generative architectures, such as LLMs, VLMs, video diffusion models, or reinforcement learning.
- Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States.
- A proven record of research results, such as publications, patents, or fellowships.
- Experience with software engineering through previous work, internships, or open-source contributions.
- Ability to commit to 24 consecutive weeks of full-time work and an intent to return to your degree program afterward.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling start dates with a 24-week commitment requirement.
- Compensation: $7,650 to $12,667 per month.
