About the role#
As a Display Array Modeling Engineering Intern, you will focus on building pre-silicon simulation models for high pixel-density display arrays. You will work to predict front-of-screen artifacts like crosstalk and mura while collaborating with panel design and optical engineering teams. This is a 12-week internship.
What you'll do#
- Design semiconductor circuits using Cadence Virtuoso Schematic Editor and simulate them with Spectre or SPICE.
- Build and validate large-array simulation models that incorporate peripheral circuit blocks and distributed loads.
- Analyze circuit layouts and use parasitic extraction results to predict coupling to sensitive nodes.
- Correlate simulation predictions for settling behavior, power effects, and crosstalk against measured display data to improve model accuracy.
- Operate optical lab instruments including spectrometers, imaging colorimeters, microscopes, and probe stations to measure display KPIs.
- Develop measurable metrics for display artifacts and automate data analysis using Python or MATLAB.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, VLSI, or a related field.
- Experience with mixed-signal circuit design, covering analog and digital fundamentals, signals and systems, and semiconductor device behavior.
- Hands-on experience with Cadence Virtuoso and circuit simulation tools.
- Knowledge of circuit layouts, parasitic effects, and large-array modeling concepts.
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data collection and analysis.
- Intent to return to your full-time degree program after the internship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States.
- Background in memory design or related array structures like SRAM, image sensors, or solar cell arrays is preferred.
- Familiarity with display technologies such as LCD, OLED, or uOLED and multi-transistor pixel architectures.
- Experience with optical lab instruments and developing quantitative performance metrics for displays.
