About the role#
Meadowbrook Veterinary Clinic offers externships for students enrolled in an accredited DVM program. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team under the supervision of a mentor doctor to meet your specific learning goals or college requirements. We provide a stipend of $250 per week for the duration of your stay.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist with medical cases.
- Provide wellness care and build client communication skills.
- Produce accurate medical records, including SOAPs.
- Participate in the daily caseload, which includes days, evenings, and weekends.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A commitment to professional and ethical standards.
- The ability to work under veterinary supervision.
