Data Governance Analyst Intern

About the role#

The Data Governance Analyst Intern supports the execution of data governance strategies within the Specialty Health business unit. This role focuses on maintaining data quality, integrity, and compliance across critical data assets to support analytics and regulatory obligations. You will collaborate with data owners, stewards, and cross-functional teams to implement governance controls and manage metadata.

What you'll do#

• Execute and support enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
• Define, implement, and monitor data quality rules and controls for critical data elements.
• Identify critical data assets and maintain metadata in the enterprise data catalog, such as Alation.
• Collaborate with business data owners and stewards to align governance practices.
• Support the development of governance KPIs, dashboards, and reporting.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and privacy requirements, including PIPEDA and the handling of PHI/PII.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program in Information Systems, Information Management, Data Management, Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 2–4+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management.
• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality methodologies, and metadata management.
• Understanding of Canadian privacy regulations and PHI/PII handling.
• Demonstrated interest in data governance, data privacy, information security, healthcare data management, or regulatory compliance.

• Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid).
• Term: Fall 2026 (September 8th through December 31st).
• Employment type: Full-time, paid internship.
