About the role#
We are hiring a Tax Accounting Intern to join our team in Houma. This position involves working on audit engagements, management services, and tax return preparation. You will work directly with senior staff members to support client needs and firm operations. This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study, evaluation, and testing of internal accounting controls.
- Prepare financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles.
- Reconcile bank and subsidiary accounts, investigating any discrepancies found.
- Compute accruals and document the underlying support.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs, prepaid expenses, and deferred charges.
- Review data input and assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and resolve technical tax issues.
- Provide information to senior staff and meet deadlines for tax returns and other projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Awareness of current developments in the accounting profession.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to use firm resources, manuals, and software effectively.

- Modality: On-site.
- Note: You must provide your own housing and transportation. Overnight travel may be required.
