About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring for an Audit Accounting Intern to join our team in Metairie. This internship offers experience in audits, management services, and tax return preparation. You will work alongside professionals to develop technical skills and build a foundation in accounting principles and auditing standards.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate internal accounting controls and test their compliance.
- Prepare financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles.
- Reconcile client bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Examine subsidiary accounts and document support for accruals.
- Prepare schedules for write-offs, prepaid expenses, and deferred charges.
- Review data input and assist with tax return preparation.
- Research tax issues and provide findings to senior staff.
- Manage your workflow to meet project and tax return deadlines.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel overnight when required.
- You must provide your own housing and transportation.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week.
