About the role#
Mauldin & Jenkins is hiring for their Internship Program. You will work on engagements involving audits, management services, or tax return preparation. This is a full-time, paid position based in Greenville, South Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
- Test compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles.
- Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Examine client reconciliations of subsidiary accounts to controls.
- Schedule computations of accruals and document underlying support.
- Prepare a schedule of write-offs for prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
- Review data input and resolve technical tax issues.
- Assist in the review of tax preparations.
- Identify, research, and assess various tax issues.
- Meet deadlines for tax returns and other assigned projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a major or concentration in accounting.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Awareness of current developments in the accounting profession.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- A practice of accuracy when dealing with numeric and alphabetic information.
- Ability to develop proficiency in the use of firm resources and software.
