About the role#
This Quality Intern position works alongside Field Engineers during the construction and maintenance of wind farms and other renewable energy projects. You will work under supervision to determine the conformance of materials, equipment, and installations to project specifications. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires up to 90% travel to project sites.
What you'll do#
- Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with quality inspections for construction activities, including roads, excavations, concrete, rebar, substations, and wind turbine installation.
- Act as a field representative to ensure construction complies with QA/QC requirements.
- Interface with field foremen to monitor job progress and maintain communication.
- Record QC and QA data accurately and help detect and address deficiencies.
- Maintain records for inspections and help compile information for operations and maintenance manuals.
- Inspect work to establish punch lists and assist in determining the calibration status of testing equipment.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
- Interact cross-functionally with Field Engineers and other team members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
- Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry to calculate figures like area, volume, and circumference.
- Ability to write daily reports and document project activities.
- Knowledge of health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a diverse group of field-level employees.
- Physical ability to work 12-hour shifts in varying outdoor conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights, maintain balance, and utilize all required fall-protection safety equipment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including safety-toed shoes, hardhats, and hearing protection.
- Ability to see, hear, and coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet effectively.

- Schedule: Full-time, typically 50 hours per week.
- Compensation: $20+ per hour depending on experience, with paid per diem and paid holidays.
