About the role#
We are looking for a Field Engineer Intern to support our project teams in Rockford, Illinois. You will work under the direction of Project and Construction Managers to help with site operations, quality control, and project documentation. This role involves both office tasks and time spent on active construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform field survey work to track and layout work activities using GPS equipment and PC software.
- Manage project quality control records and ensure all reporting is completed.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate site audits and inspections.
- Handle material inventory and receiving paperwork.
- Assist with final job closeout, including as-builts and job binder creation.
- Support subcontractor scheduling and management.
- Process RFI submittals.
- Note that extended work hours and weekends may be required.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Safety and Health, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 24 college credits.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A basic understanding of construction industry practices.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to dirt, heat, and noise.
- Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team.

- Position is based in Rockford, Illinois.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- 100% project-specific travel is required.
