About the role#
As a Firmware Engineer Intern, you will work on embedded firmware for advanced hardware platforms. This role involves contributing to technologies that power cloud, AI, storage, and networking solutions. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to build and maintain scalable solutions for data infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain embedded firmware for hardware platforms including data center, AI devices, and SSD controllers.
- Design and implement device drivers and firmware features for communication protocols like SPI, I2C, I3C, UART, and PCIe.
- Participate in the full product lifecycle from concept and design to implementation, testing, and customer release.
- Create automation scripts in Python or bash for testing, failure analysis, and infrastructure management.
- Develop provisioning software and trusted firmware stacks to enable security features for SoCs.
- Design and execute unit, system, and integration tests, including regression planning.
- Support lab testing and data analysis while debugging complex hardware and software issues.
- Work on mission-critical features for cloud customers.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Proficiency in Python or C.
- Experience working in Windows or Linux-based development environments.
- Understanding of computer architecture, networking fundamentals like TCP/IP and the OSI model, or embedded systems.
- Knowledge of tools and technologies such as Git, Linux, Makefiles, GDB, and bash scripting.
- Familiarity with ARM CPU, RISC-V, RTOS architecture, and security protocols like IPSec or TLS/SSL is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
