About the role#
Markel is seeking motivated and curious students to join our 2027 IT Internship Program. This program offers hands-on experience supporting innovative business and technology initiatives. As an intern, you will work within a team-oriented environment to develop both technical and professional skills. Opportunities are available across several areas, including IT Support Services, API Management and Innovation, DevOps, Quality Engineering, Data Services, and US Specialty Insurance Technology.

What you'll need#
- Current college student (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors).
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (military experience also accepted).
- Strong academic performance with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Ability to understand how individual and team deliverables fit into a strategic roadmap.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
- Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site at our headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
- Housing and relocation are not provided.
