About the role#
The 2027 Finance Internship Program at Markel offers students hands-on experience within our accounting, finance, and internal audit operations. As an intern, you will work directly with our team to learn about financial operations at a global, publicly traded company. This is a paid, full-time opportunity running from June through August.
What you'll do#
- Execute actual work deliverables and contribute toward team goals.
- Complete valuable business projects across departments including accounting, finance, global procurement, global disbursements, or internal audit.
- Apply educational insights in a real-world business setting.
- Participate in networking opportunities and educational sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program, with a preference for rising juniors and rising seniors.
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- Strong academic performance with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States. Markel does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Location & details#
- This role is based at our headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
- The position follows a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
- Interns are responsible for their own housing for the duration of the program.
