About the role#
The Student Intern for Facility Maintenance reports to the facility maintenance manager. This role focuses on maintaining the cleanliness and order of the center in compliance with government and management directives. Interns will model high standards for the work environment and support the development of Career Success Standards among students.
What you'll do#
- Maintain flooring by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, and sweeping surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and associated fixtures.
- Wash walls, windows, ceilings, and woodwork while dusting office furniture.
- Collect and dispose of trash and litter from grounds, streets, and parking lots.
- Maintain center appearance through landscaping tasks such as weeding, mowing, trimming, and planting.
- Use provided cleaning compounds, waxes, and disinfectants.
- Participate in student employability programs and activities.
- Maintain accountability of students and property while adhering to safety practices.
- Provide positive customer service to students and staff.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current student attending the Joliet Job Corps Center.
- Ability to follow established safety practices.
- Good customer service orientation.
- Capability to perform a variety of physical cleaning tasks.
- Ability to maintain accountability of students and property.
