Student Intern, Facility Maintenance

About the role#

The Student Intern for Facility Maintenance reports to the facility maintenance manager. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the Joliet Job Corps Center in compliance with government and management directives. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position.

What you'll do#

• Maintain and preserve flooring by scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, and sweeping.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and associated fixtures.
• Dust office furniture, including desks, bookshelves, and cabinets, and wash walls, windows, and woodwork.
• Collect and dispose of trash and debris from grounds, parking lots, and streets.
• Clean and maintain facility grounds through weeding, mowing, trimming, and planting.
• Support student development by modeling appropriate behaviors and mentoring students.
• Cultivate a harassment-free environment to ensure a safe space for staff and students.
• Participate in student employability programs and activities.

What you'll need#

• Ability to maintain clean and orderly work areas while adhering to safety practices.
• Commitment to providing quality customer service to students and staff.
• Willingness to participate in student employability programs.
• Majors in Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Public Health, Psychology, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice are relevant to this program.
