About the role#
As a Platform Development Intern, you will join the Compressor Product Engineering Group at MAHLE. You will support the development and launch of automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global vehicle applications. This is a hands-on role where you will participate in the full product development cycle, from initial design and component selection to prototype builds and final testing.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples.
- Coordinate and monitor testing programs.
- Analyze test data and organize results with your observations and conclusions.
- Apply engineering practices to reach design solutions.
- Participate in product cost and quality improvement efforts.
- Work within cross-functional teams on customer program launches.
- Meet with outside suppliers and vendors.
- Operate machine tools to produce product components.
- Attend meetings and training sessions.
- Handle other assignments as instructed by department management.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (Freshman or higher).
- High level of mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.
- Experience reading technical drawings and interpreting GD&T.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and organize effectively across multiple projects.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and results orientation.
- Computer competency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with precision rotating equipment is preferred.
- AutoCAD drafting knowledge is preferred.
