About the role#
As a Fullstack Software Engineer Intern, you will work directly on user-facing products. You will have autonomy over your projects and work alongside engineers to see your code go live. This role is a full-time position based in Toronto for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Own your specific project from start to finish.
- Check in with team members throughout the day to share updates and ask questions.
- Improve existing codebases through progressive refactoring.
- Write unit, integration, and load tests to ensure system reliability.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and share knowledge across the team.
- Manage continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Build features that improve the daily experience for Lyft drivers and passengers.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science at a Canadian university.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Less than 2 years of full-time work experience if you are a Master's student.
- Availability for the full Summer 2027 term.
- Strong grasp of CS fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Experience with React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with modern frontend testing tools, Git, and Unix command line interfaces.
- Understanding of web performance, browser internals, and the DOM.
- Experience with CSS preprocessors like Sass, database work, and mobile development.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a startup-style environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Modality: Hybrid. You will work from the office at least 3 days per week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- Compensation: CAD $40 to CAD $45 per hour.
