About the role#
As a fullstack software engineering intern, you will work on products that directly impact Lyft drivers and passengers. You will have autonomy over your projects while collaborating with engineers in a hybrid office environment. This internship is a full-time position based in New York City for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Own your assigned project and provide regular updates to your team.
- Improve the codebase through progressive refactoring.
- Ensure reliability by writing unit, integration, and load tests.
- Participate in code reviews to share knowledge and maintain quality.
- Handle continuous integration and deployment tasks.
- Build features that improve the daily experience of Lyft users.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Less than 2 years of full-time work experience for master's students who worked between programs.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, plus experience with TypeScript and Sass.
- Experience with React and modern frontend testing tools like Jest, Webpack, and Babel.
- Knowledge of browser internals, DOM, web performance, and browser developer tools.
- Familiarity with the Unix command line, Git, and database systems.
- Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Strong communication skills and an interest in transportation or sustainability.
- Experience with mobile development or real-time technology problems is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (in-office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $52-$58 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support, 401(k) plan, pre-tax commuter benefits, and 2 days of paid time off plus 3 days of sick time.
