About the role#
The Indirect Tax Intern will work with the tax team on compliance, research, and reconciliations. This role offers hands-on experience with sales, use, fuel excise, and occupancy taxes. You will work alongside tax professionals to learn about state and local taxation while assisting with daily department tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation and review of sales, use, fuel excise, and occupancy tax returns.
- Reconcile tax workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Research tax rates, taxability rules, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Gather documentation for audits, tax notices, and refund claims.
- Monitor changes in state and local tax laws and share findings with the team.
- Review tax data for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Support tax software maintenance and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and IT departments to collect tax information.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a four-year university program, at the sophomore level or above.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Completed Accounting I and II coursework.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to work in an office setting, including prolonged sitting and manual dexterity for computer use.
