About the role#
We are looking for a Process Engineer Intern to join our process team at the Thacker Pass production facility. This role provides hands-on experience in plant operations, commissioning, and engineering support. You will report to the Site Engineering Manager and work alongside teams in operations, maintenance, EHS, and quality.
What you'll do#
- Promote a safety-first culture by following OSHA and MSHA regulations.
- Encourage the use of employee stop work authority.
- Identify, report, and mitigate safety hazards during daily tasks.
- Assist process engineers with monitoring plant performance data, including mass balances and energy usage.
- Help with data collection, technical reporting, and documentation.
- Support the development and review of PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and operating manuals.
- Participate in Management of Change and Process Safety Management activities.
- Follow all environmental and quality policies while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Metallurgy.
- Completion of at least sophomore-level coursework by the start date.
- A basic understanding of chemical process principles such as thermodynamics, fluid flow, and material or energy balances.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial plant and construction environment.
- A personal commitment to our company’s purpose, vision, and values.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time, paid internship based in Winnemucca, Nevada.
- Housing and a one-time relocation stipend are provided for the duration of the internship.
