About the role#
The Personal Trainer Internship at Life Time is for individuals who want to build a career in the health and fitness industry. You will work alongside our Personal Training team to learn the practical skills needed to become a fitness professional. This program provides hands-on experience and observation opportunities, helping you prepare for a future role as a trainer. You will follow a dedicated schedule designed to give you a well-rounded view of club operations and member services.
What you'll do#
- Complete all required training modules and follow company safety standards.
- Assist on the fitness floor to ensure member safety, provide education, and keep equipment clean.
- Motivate members and help them feel confident, competent, and connected.
- Perform service desk duties and support member experience activities like boothing and outreach.
- Conduct fitness assessments and explain equipment operations.
- Promote personal training programs and services to members.
- Assist with personal training sessions when appropriate.
- Attend weekly meetings with your supervisor to track your progress and set objectives.
- Document your weekly experiences, including observations, lessons learned, and questions.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A working knowledge of human anatomy and fitness principles.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- A punctual, positive, and energetic personality.
- A strong desire to earn an accredited Personal Training Certification or a related degree.
- Interest in working as a Life Time Personal Trainer in the near future.
- Willingness to support other departments to improve the overall customer experience.
- Physical ability to perform aerobic activity, bend, stand, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- CPR and AED certification is preferred.
- Experience in customer service, fitness facility shadowing, or relevant coursework is a plus.

- This is a paid, part-time internship with a rolling start date.
