About the role#
The Personal Training Internship at Life Time is for individuals who want to start a career in the health and fitness industry. You will receive mentorship from experienced trainers and gain hands-on experience in a club environment. This program focuses on skill development through observation, client interaction, and practical training.
What you'll do#
- Complete all required training and follow company safety standards.
- Assist members on the fitness floor to ensure safety and provide education.
- Perform fitness assessments and operate equipment.
- Handle service desk duties and keep fitness equipment clean.
- Promote personal training programs to members.
- Provide customer service to help members feel connected and confident.
- Assist with personal training sessions when appropriate.
- Document your weekly observations, lessons learned, and questions.
- Meet with your supervisor weekly to review your progress and set new objectives.
- Participate in member engagement activities like boothing and outreach.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of the human body and fitness concepts.
- A positive, punctual, and enthusiastic personality.
- Desire to work toward an accredited personal training certification or a related degree.
- Interest in becoming a Life Time personal trainer in the future.
- Willingness to work in other departments to support the club.
- Ability to perform aerobic activity and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stand, reach, and climb.
- CPR and AED certification is preferred.
- Experience in a fitness facility, program design, or customer service is preferred.

- Location: Vernon Hills, Illinois.
- This is an on-site, part-time position.
- The internship follows a rolling schedule.
