About the role#
The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Internship Program provides hands-on experience in mechanical engineering. You will support product development, engineering analysis, and design initiatives. During this 12-week program, you will work on projects that enhance product performance, functionality, and quality. You will receive mentorship from experienced professionals and gain exposure to the engineering processes behind our fitness products.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with fellow interns on a 12-week cross-functional case study and present recommendations to senior leaders.
- Use SolidWorks to develop and modify 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for metal and plastic components.
- Perform engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), design calculations, and tolerance stack-up analyses.
- Support product development through design, evaluation, testing, and validation.
- Assist with prototype development, documentation, and product improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product management.
- Attend team meetings, project reviews, and engineering discussions.
- Follow established mechanical engineering procedures and design guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 is preferred.
- Must reside in the Ramsey, MN area.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SolidWorks, CAD software, or related engineering coursework is preferred.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
