About the role#
The Data Intern will join the Information Technology team to support data collection, organization, analysis, and visualization. You will gain hands-on experience with enterprise data, business intelligence tools, and cloud platforms within a regulated life sciences environment. Working alongside IT and business teams, you will contribute to dashboards, data processes, and analytics initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data from various business systems.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and data quality issues.
- Develop and enhance dashboards and reports using tools like Microsoft Power BI.
- Write SQL queries to retrieve and validate data from databases and cloud platforms.
- Support data engineering tasks including ingestion, transformation, and reconciliation.
- Assist in preparing analytics-ready datasets and developing data models.
- Help document data sources, lineage, metadata, and business rules.
- Participate in testing reports, datasets, and data pipelines.
- Support discussions with stakeholders to document reporting requirements.
- Follow organizational requirements for data privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or Business Analytics.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and data analysis concepts.
- Coursework, academic projects, or practical experience with Python or a similar language.
- Ability to break down problems and develop insights from data.
- Strong attention to accuracy, completeness, and data traceability.
- Ability to summarize analysis and communicate findings clearly.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and business processes.
- Familiarity with visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is preferred.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms or machine learning is a plus.
- Interest in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare is preferred.
