About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. This includes work with surface mount technology solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers to manage new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Establish work instructions and develop process procedures.
- Qualify new tools, equipment, and materials for new product introduction.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and implement engineering changes.
- Design and develop manufacturing strategies, tools, and systems.
- Create assembly routings and maintain labor standards and process controls.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to transfer new products from engineering to production.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and determine time standards.
- Perform economic analyses to identify variances in planned labor and cycle times.
- Attend daily shift huddles and support key performance indicators.
- Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering, or you have completed your degree within the last 12 months.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Proficiency with basic CAD software is preferred.
- Experience with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP is preferred.
- A Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt is preferred.

- Location: Tempe, Arizona.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule, which includes every other Friday off.
- This is a paid, full-time internship position.
