About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. This includes working on surface mount technology solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work alongside senior engineers and cross-functional integrated product teams to move new products from engineering into production.
What you'll do#
- Create work instructions, assembly routings, and process procedures.
- Qualify new tools and equipment for the production floor.
- Oversee non-conformance reviews and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Implement engineering changes and maintain labor standards.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and determine time standards.
- Perform economic analyses of labor and cycle times.
- Attend daily shift huddles and support product line key performance indicators.
- Design and transfer manufacturing tools and systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering, or you have completed your degree within the last 12 months.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic CAD software is preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt is a plus.
- Experience using Minitab, JMP, or other statistical software is preferred.

- Location: Tempe, Arizona.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 9/80 schedule, where you work 80 hours over 9 days and have every other Friday off.
- Employment type: Full-time.
