About the role#
This is a 16-month co-op position based in Waterdown, Ontario. You will work with the accounts payable and corporate tax teams, while also assisting with various cost accounting tasks. The term begins in May 2026.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties for accounts payable records.
- Compile data from vendor invoices and supporting documents to verify billing accuracy.
- Compare invoices against purchase orders, shipping, and receiving documents.
- Process invoices for payment and provide confirmation for cheque run reports.
- Review cheques and vouchers to verify correct payments.
- Prepare monthly journal entry approvals and reports for management or government agencies.
- Assist with the completion of the WESCAM Inc. Corporate Income Tax return.
- Prepare Canadian HST, Australian GST, and foreign VAT sales tax remittances.
- Assemble tax information for the corporate office.
- Conduct monthly tax journal entries and reconciliations.
- Support T4A-NR reporting, PST insurance filings, annual NR4 returns, and annual excise tax returns.
- Research tax matters as requested.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university co-op program with a focus on Accounting or Tax.
- Ability to commit to a 16-month term starting in May 2026.
- Interest in Canadian Corporate Income Tax and HST.
- Understanding of US and Canadian GAAP.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Ability to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS PowerPoint and the ERPLN ERP system is an asset.
