About the role#
As a Maintenance Intern, you will work within the Maintenance Department at our manufacturing facility in San Diego. This summer internship offers the opportunity to work directly with our leadership team supporting the Delimex operation. You will gain hands-on experience in maintenance, reliability, and capital projects while focusing on safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
What you'll do#
- Complete a gap analysis of the utility asset list, including steam, chillers, refrigeration gases, cooling towers, and compressed air.
- Troubleshoot equipment performance issues and complete scheduled work orders.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and corrective work orders on focus line equipment during scheduled downtime.
- Participate in the development and improvement of a documented 52-week maintenance plan within the SAP PM structure.
- Support the implementation of improvements using the Breakdown Management process to prevent equipment failures.
- Update key performance indicators and use lean manufacturing tools to support your assigned projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Coursework and background in engineering, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and business-related topics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Possession of an EU Working Permit.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into simple solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team environment.
