About the role#
KLA is hiring an Optical Engineering Intern for our Ann Arbor, Michigan location for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, paid internship offers the opportunity to work on optical and opto-mechanical sub-components for our semiconductor inspection tools. You will gain hands-on experience in a laboratory environment while contributing to the development of technology that supports the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
What you'll do#
- Design, model, and document optical systems for semiconductor inspection.
- Contribute to the development of optical and opto-mechanical sub-components.
- Perform hands-on set-up and alignment of opto-mechanical sub-assemblies in a lab.
- Use ray-tracing programs such as Zemax and other industry-standard software.
- Collaborate with teams across electrical engineering, opto-mechanical engineering, and computer science.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year graduate program in Optics or a related field.
- Completed coursework in optical engineering and lens design.
- Fundamental knowledge of ray-tracing programs.
- Strong analytical capabilities and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Less than 1 year of related experience.
