About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will participate in the implementation and oversight of the Project Safety Program. This role involves developing site safety policies and procedures while supporting our teams in the field. You will gain hands-on experience by monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with government regulations and company standards. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Monitor construction project activities and help establish safe working conditions.
- Ensure compliance with government, client, and company safety policies.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Review project work plans for accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Assist with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training.
- Implement metrics to track and report on performance issues.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and Federal or OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to recognize discrepancies with high attention to detail.
- Capability to work with all levels of the organization, from craft workers to leadership.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as required for project needs.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
