About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will gain real-world experience by supporting our teams in the field. You will learn the programs, regulations, and guidelines we use to keep our people safe. This role involves working on construction projects to help us maintain our mission that nobody gets hurt.
What you'll do#
- Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program.
- Develop site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with government regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
- Establish and monitor safe working conditions.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Assist in implementing metrics to track and report on performance issues.
- Review project work plans for conformance with safety standards.
- Help with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to recognize discrepancies through attention to detail.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Ability to travel and relocate as required.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The position is on-site in Lenexa, Kansas.
- You may be required to work overtime and weekends as needed.
