About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will join our team to help implement and oversee the Project Safety Program. You will gain hands-on experience by participating in key functions within construction management. This role focuses on maintaining our mission to ensure everyone returns home safely each day.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction project activities to ensure compliance with government, client, and company regulations.
- Establish safe working conditions and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Review project work plans for accuracy and adherence to safety standards.
- Help implement metrics to track and report on safety performance.
- Assist with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization, from craft workers to leadership.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
Location & details#
- Position is based in Houston, Texas.
- This is a full-time, paid Summer 2027 internship.
- This role is on-site and requires the ability to travel and relocate as needed for project assignments.
- You must be able to maintain regular attendance, work during normal operating hours, and work overtime or weekends when required.
