About the role#
This internship provides a hands-on experience within our construction operations. You will work at the project level to support our health and safety programs. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Drive a safety-oriented culture by working directly within project-level health and safety programs.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
- Recommend safety features for processes and products to reduce exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and provide coaching on correct practices.
- Create and maintain a management system to track safety training records for internal and external initiatives.
- Interpret and apply safety regulations to project requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with construction terminology is an asset.
Location & details#
- Work locations include Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.
- This is an on-site position.
- You must be willing to travel and relocate as business requires, including to isolated areas that may require camp accommodations.
- This role may require working overtime and weekends.
