About the role#
As an Equipment/Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will support Regional Construction and Mining operations. You will focus on the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reliability of our equipment fleet. This role involves both daily tasks and long-term projects to improve equipment availability and manage preventative maintenance programs.
What you'll do#
- Comply with all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Manage material handling, procurement, and logistics.
- Create and maintain tool and filter lists, documentation, and equipment inspection records.
- Handle planning, scheduling, and budgeting for equipment, including paperwork for critical lifts.
- Use failure analysis data to improve equipment reliability.
- Support craft maintenance technicians by ordering parts, managing inventory, and scheduling crews.
- Maintain communication between supervision and management.
- Complete specialty projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer.
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Capability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
