About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in construction management. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers, participating in key operations to support major infrastructure projects. Depending on the assignment, you may work in office-based roles, on-site field positions, or within estimation teams.
What you'll do#
- Perform field engineering tasks, including operational planning, cost control, and project scheduling.
- Track project quantities, manage material procurement, and assist with contract administration.
- Supervise field activities and execute engineering tasks using standard techniques.
- Resolve minor technical issues that arise during construction.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, project costs, and material usage.
- Investigate reported incidents and recommend solutions.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material needs and pricing.
- Collaborate with suppliers to manage material handling and delivery.
- Estimate costs for large-scale projects.
- Coordinate project documentation across various divisions using software such as Hard Dollar, AutoCAD, P6, and InRoads.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the winter 2027 term.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High motivation with a focus on taking initiative and achieving excellence.
- Commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various weather conditions and environments.
