The Guest Services Internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hospitality operations. This J1 Visa program focuses on delivering attentive and efficient service to guests throughout their stay, from check-in to checkout. Interns will work on-site at the JW Marriott Savannah, supporting front desk operations and ensuring high standards of guest satisfaction.
What you'll do#
- Greet and welcome guests at the front desk.
- Answer inquiries regarding hotel services, facilities, hours of operation, local dining, transportation, and entertainment.
- Manage the PBX console and handle the logging and delivery of mail, packages, and messages.
- Review the front office log and trace files daily.
- Assist with check-ins, checkouts, and room reservations while following established rate-quoting procedures.
- Operate front desk computer systems, handle cash and credit transactions, and prepare end-of-shift paperwork.
- Maintain awareness of hotel promotions, special packages, and in-house groups.
- Follow emergency procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer service or hotel experience is preferred.
- Relevant college course work is helpful.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Ability to stand for the duration of a shift and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills, with the ability to listen and resolve guest concerns effectively.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required by hotel operations.
