The Cook 2 Internship at Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville provides hands-on culinary experience in a boutique hotel setting. This role involves preparing food for restaurants, room service, banquets, and the employee cafeteria while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and sanitation. Interns assist in all areas of kitchen operations to ensure efficient service and guest satisfaction.
What you'll do#
- Prepare food items for restaurant service, banquets, and the employee cafeteria following standardized recipes.
- Complete station preparation before opening to ensure prompt service.
- Display buffet food items according to hotel standards and manage buffet breakdown.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas and kitchen workstations.
- Follow proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to meet health department and company regulations.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
- Assist in the rotation of food items and support various kitchen positions as needed.
What you'll need#
- Culinary experience is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent and previous hotel experience are preferred.
- Proficiency in cooking techniques including charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sauté, braising, roasting, and par-cooking.
- Thorough knowledge of menus, preparation standards, herbs, and spices.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the entire shift.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and maintain a flexible schedule.
