About the role#
Justice Resource Institute offers internship opportunities for students pursuing degrees in Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, or Human Resources. These roles support the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, which coordinates investigative responses for reports of child abuse and violence. Interns may be placed in clinical roles within the Healing and Resiliency Program or in non-clinical support roles. All interns have the opportunity to participate in community outreach, including prevention fairs, trainings, and tabling events.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, family, and group treatment for children and families affected by trauma.
- Complete comprehensive assessments, develop clinical formulations, and write treatment plans.
- Facilitate clinical measures for children and parents.
- Work directly with parents and caregivers during a child’s forensic interview to assess needs and provide referrals for community services.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team responsible for investigating reports of abuse.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s degree program or higher in a mental health field is required for clinical placements.
- Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program may be considered for non-clinical placements.
- A strong clinical interest in working with children and adolescents.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with trauma informed models of treatment is preferred.
- Successful completion of background and driving record checks.
