    About the role#

    The Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, a program of Justice Resource Institute, coordinates the investigative response for reports of child sexual abuse, physical abuse, and witness to violence. Interns work with children and families during and after the forensic interview process. You will provide support to families, assist in identifying service needs, and participate in community outreach activities like prevention fairs and trainings.

    What you'll do#

    Clinical interns work in the Healing and Resiliency Program to support children and families affected by trauma. Responsibilities include:

    • Provide individual, family, and group treatment
    • Complete comprehensive assessments
    • Develop clinical formulations and write treatment plans
    • Facilitate clinical measures to children and parents

    Non-clinical interns work directly with parents and caregivers on the day of a child’s forensic interview. This involves assessing family needs, providing support, and making referrals for community services while working alongside the multidisciplinary team investigating reports of abuse.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Master’s degree program or higher in a mental health field is required for clinical placements
    • Bachelor’s degree students may be considered for non-clinical placements
    • A strong interest in working with children and adolescents
    • Familiarity with trauma informed models of treatment is preferred
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Background and driving record checks are required
