About the role#
The Systems Automation Co-op supports the Automation and Operational Technology team at the Raritan manufacturing site. You will gain hands-on experience with automation systems, process control technologies, and industrial data platforms used in pharmaceutical production. You will work alongside engineers and manufacturing teams to improve automation reliability and support digital manufacturing projects.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations for manufacturing automation systems like Delta-V and OSI-Pi.
- Assist with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Participate in system upgrades, equipment onboarding, and integration projects.
- Help maintain automation documentation, equipment inventories, and operating procedures.
- Assist with automation design reviews and technical assessments.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and validation activities for automation solutions.
- Support data collection, visualization, and reporting initiatives, including historian and OT network integration.
- Improve operational data visibility through analytics and dashboards.
- Analyze automation performance data to identify improvement opportunities and reduce manual processes.
- Participate in cross-functional projects involving Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and IT.
- Present project outcomes and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Learn GMP requirements related to automation systems and participate in risk assessments and change controls.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work full time for the duration of the co-op term.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship requirements.
- Preferred: Coursework or projects in automation, controls, robotics, instrumentation, or process engineering.
- Preferred: Knowledge of programming concepts, scripting languages, PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, or industrial networking.
- Preferred: Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI, Python, or SQL.

- Compensation: $23.50 to $52.50 per hour, based on program year, discipline, degree, and experience.
