    About the role#

    The Operational Excellence Co-Op is a one-year development program based in a medical device manufacturing environment. You will support business performance by applying Lean Manufacturing, data analytics, and structured problem-solving to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Compliance, and Culture. This role involves working with manufacturing and business leaders to identify improvement opportunities, eliminate waste, and optimize processes across the Vision value stream.

    What you'll do#

    • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen events, Gemba walks, Value Stream Mapping, and waste reduction.
    • Analyze manufacturing performance metrics such as throughput, cycle time, OEE, yield, scrap, defects, downtime, inventory, and WIP.
    • Assist with line balancing, capacity planning, labor optimization, and production flow improvements.
    • Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, A3 Thinking, and DMAIC.
    • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Excel, Power BI, Minitab, and Visio.
    • Support digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives through process monitoring.
    • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Technical Operations teams.
    • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, and internal quality requirements.
    • Present project findings, recommendations, and business impact to site leadership.
    • Support the deployment and sustainment of Operational Excellence standards and the Vision Supply Chain Operating System.

    What you'll need#

    • Completion of at least the fourth year of an accredited undergraduate program.
    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
    • Expected graduation date after July 2028.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas.
    • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies like 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Daily Management Systems.
    • Basic understanding of statistics, process capability, project management, and manufacturing operations.
    • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments like medical devices or pharmaceuticals is preferred.
    • Familiarity with OEE, SPC, Cp/Cpk, and process validation concepts.
    • Experience with SQL, Python, Power Automate, or digital manufacturing technologies is a plus.
    • Lean Six Sigma certification or related training is a plus.
    • Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

    • Location: Anasco, Puerto Rico.
    • Term: January to December 2027.
    • Modality: On-site, 40 hours per week.
