About the role#
This internship is based in Santa Clara, California, and focuses on the development of surgical robotic platforms. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and clinical engineers to support the prototyping, testing, and production of technologies designed to improve patient outcomes. This role offers exposure to complex surgical robotics and provides opportunities to contribute to both early-stage prototypes and mature systems.
What you'll do#
- Support system and subsystem-level development, integration, and testing of surgical robotics.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, software, and robotic control domains.
- Characterize and de-risk designs from the prototype to the subsystem level.
- Analyze test results to provide insights and conclusions.
- Develop new test methods and fixtures for system integration, testing, and calibration.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a similar field.
- A plan to return to an academic program after the internship concludes.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Hands-on experience building or troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or software systems through design projects, lab courses, or previous internships.
- A basic understanding of sensors and motors.
- Ability to work as a self-starter with a record of self-directed learning.
- Valid work authorization in the United States at the time of hire.
