About the role#
The Critical Care team at Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Data Science Co-op to support early-stage research and development programs. You will work on solving data science and analytics problems by designing algorithms for products and building machine learning tools. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Danvers, Massachusetts, for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Design and translate algorithms for products and internal analysis tools.
- Implement machine learning for new or existing algorithms.
- Assist in the design and training of machine learning models for Clinical Decision Support.
- Conduct data analysis for internal or external groups.
- Research new applications of data science within the company.
- Provide input into process development and improvement.
- Analyze data and present results to the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a senior or graduate student in data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, AI, or statistics.
- Strong background in machine learning and deep learning, including tools like Tensorflow, Keras, or Pytorch.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, with a preference for Python.
- Solid understanding of statistics, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with time series modeling, LLMs, and natural language processing.
- Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work in a self-motivated manner.
- Preferred experience includes signal processing, big data or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Hadoop, Spark, Hive), and tuning LLMs for tasks like Named Entity Recognition.
- A demonstrated interest in the medical device industry.
- You must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
