About the role#
Jimcor Agencies offers a summer internship program for college students to gain hands-on experience in the specialty insurance industry. This eight-week program focuses on the excess and surplus lines marketplace and commercial property and casualty underwriting. You will work alongside experienced professionals, participate in training, and see how insurance accounts move through the full policy lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Support new business submissions and the renewal process.
- Organize and index policy documentation.
- Shadow underwriters during quoting and risk assessment.
- Review inspection reports.
- Explore binding authority and wholesale brokerage operations.
- Gain exposure to endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, non-renewals, and policy issuance.
- Research carrier appetites, underwriting guides, hit lists, and carrier portals.
- Participate in sales meetings, carrier discussions, and Workflow Wednesday sessions.
- Learn about E&S regulations and stamping requirements.
- Collaborate with underwriting, binding, brokerage, and operations teams.
- Complete a simulated policy lifecycle exercise.
- Finish assigned training through Litmos, Jimcor University, and USLI’s Fundamental First Course.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
- Analytical thinking, initiative, and professional judgment.
- Comfort using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Coursework or interest in property and casualty insurance or the E&S marketplace is preferred.
- Membership in Gamma Iota Sigma or a similar organization is helpful.

- The program runs during Summer 2027.
