About the role#
The Disability Support Services (DSS) Department at Ivy Tech Community College seeks a master’s-level intern to support students with disabilities in achieving academic success. This role provides supervised experience in student support, accommodations management, and disability services within a higher education environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in intake meetings with students to discuss accommodation needs.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of academic accommodations.
- Provide one-on-one student support, including coaching, study strategies, and self-advocacy skill-building.
- Assist with case management tasks such as documentation review and follow-up communication.
- Conduct outreach to students regarding available DSS resources and services.
- Support students in using assistive technology and campus learning tools.
- Collaborate with staff on workshops related to accessibility, mental health, and student success.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with FERPA, ADA, and Section 504.
- Attend weekly supervision meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a master’s program in counseling, social work, psychology, higher education, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Interest in supporting diverse student populations, including students with disabilities.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered service.

- Location: Lafayette, Indiana
- Modality: On-site
- Compensation: $20 per hour
- Hours: 20 to 28 hours per week
- Term: Rolling (semester or academic-year based)
