About the role#
Iron Oak Energy Solutions is seeking an Operations Intern for our Summer 2027 program in Tomah, Wisconsin. This full-time, on-site internship provides hands-on experience in mining and industrial operations. You will work alongside leadership and technical teams to gain exposure to plant processes, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives over a 10 to 12 week period.
What you'll do#
- Learn and apply safety principles, including MSHA regulations, industrial hygiene, and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with the Mine Planner and Supervisor to understand drilling, blasting, haulage, surveying, and sampling.
- Work with the Operations Manager to learn about wet processing, drying, screening, loading, quality control, and data management.
- Partner with the Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor to understand permitting, reporting, reclamation, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the maintenance and purchasing teams to learn about preventative and corrective maintenance, scheduling, and procurement.
- Assist staff with technical problems and specific projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Mining Engineering.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and the ability to work well in a team.
- A willingness to work in field and industrial settings.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude or mechanical understanding.
- Prior experience through internships, projects, or field work is a plus.
- A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
