About the role#
The Walk-in Services team serves as the primary point of contact for approximately 2,000 new clients annually. This internship offers experience in a resettlement agency setting, providing exposure to internal programs and public benefits available to humanitarian immigrants. Interns will work directly with clients to ensure timely access to essential services and resources.
What you'll do#
- Conduct in-person screenings to assess client eligibility for internal programming and external public benefits.
- Complete program enrollment forms and ensure all required client documentation is accurately scanned and filed.
- Assist clients with applications for public benefits, such as cash assistance and medical insurance.
- Conduct follow-up calls with potential clients to provide information on walk-in services and respond to inquiries.
- Track service provision through electronic data entry and assist with scheduling contract interpreters.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or an individual within 12 months of graduation.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week for three months.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient digital literacy skills, including experience with MS Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Fluency in French, Spanish, Amharic, or other languages spoken by the client base is considered an asset.
- Academic background in Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, International Relations, or Business Administration is preferred.

- Compensation: This position is unpaid. Fall 2026 interns may be eligible for a per diem reimbursement of $15 per day for food and travel expenses.
